Platin

Platin ist ein chemisches Element im Periodensystem der Elemente mit dem Symbol Pt und der Ordnungszahl 78. Platin ist ein schweres, schmiedbares, dehnbares, grau-weißes Übergangsmetall. Das Edelmetall ist sehr korrosionsbeständig und wird zur Herstellung von Schmuckwaren, Fahrzeugkatalysatoren, Laborgeräten, Zahnimplantaten und Kontaktwerkstoffen verwendet.

Beschreibung: Rare, very heavy, soft, silvery-white metal.

Verwendung: Used in jewelry, to make crucible and special containers and as a catalyst. Used with cobalt to produce very strong magnets. Also to make standard weights and measures. Resists corrosion and acid attacks except aqua regia.
